If you haven’t been to Honor yet – you’re missing out. But no worries! The studio has only been there for about a year, so sometimes it takes a while for word to get out about awesome stuff these days.
I learned about Honor Movement Studios because I follow several local yoga teachers on social media who teach there, so I figured I would check it out. The website stood out too because it’s gorgeous and I adored the mission statement:
We are dedicated to offering strong yet accessible movement. Classes that will challenge and/or support you. Classes that range from a blissful sweat fest to soothing restorative, and really convenient class times, we meet you where you are.
Honor was having a sweet new member special deal so I jumped right in after the first class because it was so incredible.
The first class I took was Honor Method Sculpt with Shannon, and she kicked my ass. I loved the sculpt class because we used sliders, resistance bands, and weights to work on our strength, blended with yoga. Shannon’s creative routine kept us on our toes, but she led us through the movements with genuine encouragement right along side us. We sweat, we laughed, we released endorphins to an amazing playlist.
Finally, Shannon is one of the most authentic teachers I’ve met so far in this journey within the Maine world of wellness. The way she ended class that first day stood out to me. It wasn’t curated. It was straight from her heart. She told us we were badasses for showing up. She swore in shavasana!
I was binging yoga classes and studios at the time to get my resume out and that was a long time coming and much needed gentle reminder that yoga does not need to be SO serious. It’s fun and awesome and we are all badasses for making time for ourselves.
During that 2 week time period I took every type of class Honor offers except the dance fit fusion. The studio is stunning and the community vibe that you feel is undeniable. If you’re looking for a tribe – I say check this one out for sure.
And just before you do, meet the owner and creator of this fabulous space, Shannon.

Random item in your bag right now?: I pretty notoriously carry around multiple books with me. More than likely a personal development book, and an anatomy/yoga book.
On her nightstand: Palo Santo, Crystals, my journal and CBD muscle rub. AAAAND maybe a hidden stash of dark chocolate. Maybe.
What books to you always recommend people read? You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
What does your self care/love routine look like? NAPS. Honestly – sleep is some deep self-care for me right now. I’m not getting as much as I like at the moment, so when the opportunity for a nap comes around, I go all out. Guilt-free! I’ve also developed a really solid meditation practice over that last year and a half – it’s like a tether.
Describe your fitness/movement routine in one sentence: I’m in the best shape of my life right now and I contribute it to my obsessively curated mix of HIIT, barre, and yoga. I take two mandatory rest days a week, but those other 5 days a week, it’s not a full day until I can break a sweat and get those endorphins flowing.
The last gift you gave someone? I bought my boyfriend a pair of shorts from Shift last week!
What were you like in highschool? Oopf. So timid. I was pretty ruthlessly bullied in high school.
What TV/movie character would you be & why? I have a secret obsession with Kung Fu movies and looove Yu Shu Lien from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. She’s a badass!
If you had all the money, what type of vacation would you plan? 3 months of carefree gallivanting through Asia. Laos + Vietnam especially!
Words that inspire you today: Alignment!

Be flexible in your approach, but steadfast in your vision.
