“I LOVE Amber!” is the general consensus in the Rêve community.

Rêve has it going on and so does Amber.

My heart explodes when I see a wellness community do their thing. When they come together IN NUMBERS to cheer, connect, cry a little (or A LOT) and laugh 100X more.

That’s what fitness has the potential to be. A workout can feel like a party with the right crew. From yoga, to HIIT or spin, the sharing of energy, sweat, vulnerability and encouragement for becoming a better human is one of the raddest things you can do in the wellness space today.

So I attended the Rêve Thompson’s Point Pop Up and got a tiny taste of the magic within this community and became introduced to Amber. She’ll be teaching a Tone & Trim pop up class in the land of magic leggings, AKA Athleta and I couldn’t be more AMPED about it.

I had the glorious opportunity to spend an hour of time with Amber getting to know her. We chatted about what she does for her day job to why she is cares so much about Tone & Trim. She shared with me about back pain and how important maintaining a strong core has become to her.

Her compassion FLOWS and it’s easy to fall in love with her (girl CRUSH). She is sweet and smiley and holds space in a big hearted way. She shares her genuine appreciation for the life she leads and this gratitude is positively infectious.

When the Rêve ladies heard she was teaching at Athleta, 10 people signed up within hours. At the pop up, several girls said, “I’ll do anything that involves Amber!” No wonder she was the first pick of the Rêve teachers to be their #powerofshe rep. From her day job to her fun job, she’s obsessed with supporting and empowering the women around her.

Let’s all get to know her more!

Name: Amber Hardison

Location: Scarborough

Occupation: Spin/Fitness Instructor and Domestic Violence Advocate

Age: 30

Where can we find you?
Reve 4-5 days a week!
I teach Tone and Trim 2 days a week and spin 2 days a week! I love all of our spin classes and the variety of instructors is amazing. Plus I’m addicted to Yoga Sculpt and love doing our HIIT classes. To unwind, I’ll take Yin Yoga for some much needed deep stretching. We have just about everything!

Social media:  @ahardison07

On her nightstand: Always a water bottle, a book (right now it’s Girl, Wash Your Face), a picture of my partner and I, and usually like 16 hair ties haha

Random item in your bag right now: My Reve bag always has my mic head set and a couple of mic screens, headbands and a couple hats (to keep the mic on), a few Turkey Jerky and RX bars for post class fuel, shower stuff, and more hair ties!

What does your self care/love routine look like? Working out has always been a big part of my self care routine- I always feel better after a class and sweating it out! I also love spending time with family, friends and my dog. Wine, yoga, music, disengaging and being present (even if it’s just for a 5 minute walk outside).

Describe your fitness/movement routine: Teaching T&T has allowed me to build more strength and stability! Tone and trim is a unique class that allows us to find balance with the body and mind through using stretching, body weight, weights, and other props to challlenge muscle groups we don’t always use. I teach spin 2-3 days a week- being able to clip in and ride to some awesome music being surrounded by some amazing people is what I look forward to every week. I also like to lift heavy to build strength on days I don’t teach, as well as practice yoga!

How long have you been in the wellness business? I have been teaching at Reve for just over a year, but have been passionate about health and wellness since I graduated college!

Can you describe how your career in health & wellness start?
Working out and practicing wellness was always something I did aside from working a part time job. I found a passion and love for learning and growing physically and mentally. I stumbled upon Reve looking for a good workout. I realized after going for a while, that it was more than a place to get a good sweat sesh in. It was a community of supporters who lift you up on your worst days, and cheer you on during your best days. I knew I wanted to become a part of this community in a bigger way, and that’s where my journey began to become an Instructor.
When do you feel the most successful?
On the podium, when I know I’ve connected with a rider. Maybe I said something, or maybe it’s my playlist, something that has made them yell or woo or cry or clap their hands. That is the best feeling knowing that their day has been influenced in a positive way on that bike. For a moment that rider has allowed themself to be a little vulnerable and be present and really soak up the experience.
What is one challenge you faced getting to where you are now?
Self doubt. Not believing that I knew enough or was good enough to become an Instructor. The little voice inside our heads that fuels the doubt and fear that we may fall can do so much damage. But doing it anyways, falling and getting right back up to keep going and to keep fighting for what you want. That’s how you prove that self doubt wrong.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’m proud of what I do. My jobs allow me to support and empower those around me. Often times I’m meeting people during the worst times of their lives, and to be able to help them and learn from their strength is a blessing.

Amber,
I’m so impressed with the way you give back to this community. Domestic violence is heavy, it takes so much strength to show up the way you do. You have a heart of gold!
I’m so thrilled my Athleta community gets to experience a little bit of your magic in the store! I also can’t wait to get to know you more and to have you represented on this blog make me so happy.
