A core workout, writing tips, and discount yoga gear.

Trying something new here – A weekly reflection and some interesting links and ideas I discovered recently.

4/22/2018 reflection: It’s been about a week and a half since returning home from the Peace Corps in Guyana. The readjustment has been difficult in some ways and very joyful in others. I have loved catching up with friends and family about our travels and life experiences. It’s been so mentally stimulating sometimes, to the point of exhaustion! I’ve been making yoga and self care a huge priority, so I’m very happy to share that I feel like I’m moving forward, even if it’s small steps, every day.

Here is a quote that came into my life one day that I really loved:

“If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy, and inspires your hopes.” – Andrew Carnegie

On the topic of goals, it’s been one of mine to improve my writing skills and how I collect pieces of information I want to save for later. Here are some resources I’m using to do that:

Medium – I became a member on Medium. This is a website that: “Taps into the brains of the world’s most insightful writers, thinkers, and storytellers to bring you the smartest takes on topics that matter. So whatever your interest, you can always find fresh thinking and unique perspectives.” That’s straight off their website.

An article from Medium that I really appreciated, to show you an example of what you can find was: “Take Your Reading to the Next Level: A System for Recall, Research, Indexing, and Growing as a Human.”

As I pursue more of this, I’m trying to keep in mind this common phrase:

‘If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.’ – Stephen King.

Recent read: I read this amazing, inspiring, heart wrenching book called Half the Sky. It’s about women oppression worldwide and how nations and individual people can help make a difference. If you’re searching for a greater purpose, read this book and you’ll find one real fast.

Here’s a great article about women’s rights during pregnancy, and why it might be harder than you think for some people to get them.

Home living – DIY cleaners with 5 common ingredients. As I prepare for a move into a new apartment, I found this article worth saving. I can’t wait to start fresh with all the household products and I want to be good about cleaning in an environmentally friendly way!

I also saved this great looking core workout – I love quick circuits, especially ones with three moves! Here is A 3-move, 10-minute core workout from a bomb trainer. Thank you PopSugar, as always.

Last thing, but definitely not least, I discovered the Yoga Outlet. This is dangerous but the deals are amazing. I’m preparing for a yoga teacher training, so I bought a few necessary items for really great prices. I feel like I’ll be using this so much for future purchases.

Hopefully a few of these links are interesting or beneficial to you too. Enjoy and feel free to connect further over social media.

Namaste!
